About Ben Katzara
Born and raised in Tampa Bay, Florida, Ben has always been fascinated with baking and creating.He started baking professionally at the age of eighteen.
Ben started in commercial bakeries, moving onto a private bakery - where he and the pastry chef worked to make doughnuts from scratch (using old-fashioned methods). Through this teachings, Ben persevered and kept his mind set on making cakes. When Ben had worked for a few commercial bakeries, Ben began to work with
Chef Michael Baugh at Let Them Eat Cake in Tampa, FL.
It was there that Ben further developed his skills in the wedding cake-producing processes; from start to finish; and Ben began to gain experience with chocolate sculpting. Ben developed tremendous skill and was sous chef to Chef Michael Baugh. They worked daily side-by-side at the gourmet pastry shop. Since his time working at Let Them Eat Cake in South Tampa, FL - Ben moved to Southeast Ohio.
Ben attended and graduated college in Music Production/Management from Hocking College with an Associate in Applied Business degree in 2016.Ben found it hard to work a regular full-time job with his schedule from college and holding the position of Creative Arts Director at the New Thought church, he and his partner Matthew Starcher were in the process of pioneering, at the time.
Ben creatively began to work at healthcare centers as the entertainment to pay the bills. Ben Katzara was extremely successful in the area of Southeast Ohio, while making private wedding cakes and all - occasion cakes on the side for extra income.
Now, Ben and his partner have since relocated to Unity Worldwide Headquaters at Unity Village to be employed at Silent Unit now for over a year and a half. Ben currently lives in Lee's Summit, Missouri with his partner and three cats today and continues his passion for making wedding cakes and everyday cakes for hire.
